Senior Project 1 and 2 are the capstone courses of the
Visual Communications baccalaureate program at Farmingdale State College
The Details
Senior project is comprised of 2 courses. Senior Project 1 where students conceptualize, research and develop a commercially viable project that solves a problem or fills a need. In the second semester in Senior Project 2, the students produce professional quality design and collateral materials related to that project.
Senior Project 1
This course focuses on research and development of an original concept selected by the student. Through research, experimentation, writing and critique, they define their own individual voice and develop a creative solution for a commercially relevant or socially important product.
Senior Project 2
In this course, the students develop and execute their project prototype, document their creative process in a book, and create a series of professional quality collateral material to support the project. Each student formally presents their project in a forum open to the general public. This year's class will also meet privately with a select group of industry professionals who review their projects.
New Format
Our Expo is our premier event that showcases our students hard work and creativity. This year the in-person Expo was canceled due to the Coronavirus shutdown. So... we are doing it virtually! As our classes transitioned to an online format, we challenged our students to present their work digitally. This website is our solution to showcase our students and give them an opportunity to present their work. The students also meet with jurors in a private virtual event.
Enjoy our presentations
Our students are resilient and have developed digital versions of their projects. Please take some time to review the work and feel free to send an email with your feedback. Thank you for supporting our students and our program.
