Senior Project 1 and 2 are the capstone courses of the Visual Communications baccalaureate program at Farmingdale State College
The Details
Senior project is comprised of 2 courses. Senior Project 1 where students conceptualize, research and develop a commercially viable project that solves a problem or fills a need. In the second semester in Senior Project 2, the students produce professional quality design and collateral materials related to that project.
Senior Project 1
This course focuses on research and development of an original concept selected by the student. Through research, experimentation, writing and critique, they define their own individual voice and develop a creative solution for a commercially relevant or socially important product.
“Stagnation is destruction. Act on your dreams and be changed.” —Vincent Paluzzi
Senior Project 2
In this course, the students develop and execute their project prototype, document their creative process in a book, and create a series of professional quality collateral material to support the project. Each student formally presents their project in a forum open to the general public. This year's class will also meet privately with a select group of industry professionals who review their projects.
“I believe art to be most profound when a piece is able to push the viewer to find beauty in something they may have otherwise overlooked.” —Hope Scalici
