A design compeition that all the seniors vote on

Expo Design
The design for each expo is a competitive process. Seniors in both sections submit individual designs and both classes vote on the most successful one for marketing the event. Posters, postcards and social media ads are created with the chosen design. This year, Aaron Mitchell's design won the competition.

Aaron Mitchell
My name is Aaron Mitchell and I have had a love for art & design since I was seven years old. I’ve been attending SUNY Farmingdale State College for the past 3 years pursuing Visual Communications: Graphic Design. I graduated high school in 2013 and personally I was lost in what career to pursue. After trial and error in 2020 I finally decided that I’d attempt a career with the artistic side of my brain and came to this college.
Graphic Design has been the best career decision I’ve ever made. The amount of compassion, support, direction, and creativity I’ve received from my professors has been magnificent. The lessons and projects I’ve attempted over the years have led me to this final moment for my undergraduate degree.
Out of nine designs produced for the Senior Expo, my design was chosen to be displayed. This moment for me was overwhelming because throughout my years I was always insecure of my artistic talents. I had finally received some form of accolades for my design.
For my poster design I drew inspiration from social media such as Instagram and YouTube. With 3D elements and patterns I created a contrasting yet harmonic poster.
To my classmates, those graduating with me and those after, thank you. You have all driven me to this point and have taught me to love my art even if I complain about how inferior it is to you all. I know you all will be prosperous in your future. As I always say “I’m Alive.” and that’s all you need in this world to move forward and create your story. Thank you all.
